About the Assistant Warehouse Manager Position

The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays an important role in supporting the Warehouse Manager with the daily running of warehouse operations. This position requires someone who can lead employees, monitor warehouse performance, solve operational challenges, and ensure stock is managed accurately.

You will work closely with warehouse staff, Team Leaders, drivers, and management to ensure products are received, stored, picked, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.

This is a hands-on management role that requires excellent planning, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Main Responsibilities

As an Assistant Warehouse Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Assist with the daily management of warehouse operations.
• Supervise receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and stock distribution activities.
• Help implement stock control procedures to improve inventory accuracy.
• Monitor stock counts and investigate stock shortages or variances.
• Implement controls to reduce stock losses and theft.
• Ensure incoming stock is received, checked, allocated, and distributed to branches within required timeframes.
• Oversee returned stock, including supplier returns and Returns for Credit (RFCs).
• Monitor warehouse performance and resolve operational challenges.
• Ensure customer service standards and delivery targets are achieved.
• Assist with employee scheduling and leave planning.
• Support staff training, development, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
• Supervise drivers and monitor vehicle maintenance.
• Coordinate distribution routes to improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, warehouse operating standards, and Health and Safety regulations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through planning, reporting, and process improvements.
• Help lead the warehouse team in achieving operational objectives.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• A tertiary qualification in Warehouse Management or Logistics will be an advantage.
• Minimum of five years’ warehouse experience within the automotive industry.
• Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or Warehouse Manager is essential.
• Good knowledge of warehouse and logistics operations.
• Hands-on management experience.
• Computer literacy.
• Clear criminal record.
