Job Purpose

The General Assistant’s role is to ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining a clean and organized environment, assisting customers with product loading, and ensuring smooth operations in the yard. This includes accurate stock management and loading, aimed at increasing customer satisfaction, repeat business, and profit margins.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load customers’ vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks accurately and promptly.
  • Stack and count stock properly, and assist in pulling stock for transfers.
  • Report stock shortages and breakages.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the yard by sweeping and upholding good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist customers with product knowledge and provide excellent customer service.
  • Bag stone and sand when necessary.
  • Participate in regular stocktakes.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Education: Matric or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role.

  • Effective verbal communication.
