What You Need to Apply:

To qualify for the Cadet Firefighter Skills Program, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

• Education: Grade 12 certificate (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred).
• Age: Must be 18 years or older.
• Health: You must be medically and physically fit with no fear of heights or confined spaces.
• Team Player: Ability to work in a team and handle stressful situations.
• Background: No criminal record.

Physical Fitness Test:

Shortlisted candidates will undergo a rigorous fitness test that includes:

• Reach Test: 1.9 meters
• 2.4 km Run: Complete within 11 minutes for males and 13 minutes for females.
• Push-ups & Sit-ups: 30 each in 60 seconds.
• Dead Load Carries: Carry 2x 25 kg drums over 100 meters.

Additional Assessments:

If you pass the physical test, you will also need to:

• Pass a written assessment and interview.
• Submit fingerprints for a background check.
• Undergo a medical evaluation and drug test.
• Take claustrophobia and acrophobia tests.
