Programme Overview:

Accelerate is a youth development initiative aimed at empowering young South Africans with the skills needed to thrive in the hospitality industry. Spanning three years, the program blends practical work with formal education, providing a solid foundation for a long-term career in hospitality.

Before enrolling in the full programme, applicants must complete a one-year Orientation phase in a hotel. This experience allows candidates to understand the industry better and assess their career suitability. Successful completion of this year, however, does not automatically guarantee admission into the 3-year programme; candidates must apply and be accepted based on performance and application reviews.

Job Summary:

During the Orientation Year, trainees in Hospitality Management will rotate through various hotel departments, while those in Professional Cookery will experience different sections of the hotel kitchen. This comprehensive exposure ensures a well-rounded understanding of hotel operations, preparing candidates for the challenges and rewards of a hospitality career.

Trainees are expected to:

• Follow company policies and present themselves professionally.
• Address guests’ needs with warmth and efficiency.
• Develop strong relationships with team members.
• Comply with quality standards and job responsibilities.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:

• South African citizen by birth.
• Aged between 18 and 22 (not turning older than 22 in the application year).
• Matric (Grade 12) certificate or an equivalent NQF/NCV Level 4 qualification.
• Pass all 7 Matric subjects, preferably with 50% or higher.
• No post-Matric/NQF 4/NCV 4 qualifications allowed.
