What You’ll Be Doing
As a General Assistant at Cashbuild, you’ll make sure our customers are happy and our store runs smoothly. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll be doing:
Customer Service
- Greet all customers and find out what they need.
- Give customers the right advice on products.
- Help customers with any questions about products.
- Handle customer complaints quickly and efficiently.
- Suggest additional products like paint brushes when a customer buys paint.
- Make sure customers’ purchases are loaded into their vehicles safely and without damage.
- Inform customers about extra services like delivery, glass cutting, credit programs, special orders, and more.
- Stay knowledgeable about all products and be ready to help in your designated aisle.

Housekeeping
- Keep your area free of obstacles and ensure all stock is neatly displayed as soon as it arrives.
- Make sure shelves are labeled with the correct prices.
- Complete all required checklists, including those for the canteen and restroom areas.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and colleagues in your area.
- Ensure that all stock in your area is stored safely and report any issues to the Store Manager.
Ready for Business
- Follow the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards as per the Cashbuild Way.
Loss Prevention and Security
- Identify and report any gaps in displays and investigate their causes.
- Be aware of and report any suspicious behaviors or people to management.
- Ensure no product is loaded for a customer without proof of purchase or the required documentation.
What You Need to Apply
- Grade 10 or at least 1 year of related work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English and the main language spoken in the area.
- Basic math skills for accurate calculations.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure.
