Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a CCTV Control Room Operator, your role will involve a variety of critical tasks to ensure the safety and security of the estate you are assigned to. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Rotation of Security Personnel at Posts:

You’ll ensure that security personnel are rotated between posts to maintain consistency in access control measures and search protocols.

This rotation also helps to keep potential criminals guessing and prevents them from getting familiar with security routines.

Thermal Camera Monitoring:

You’ll be responsible for monitoring perimeter thermal cameras, especially when the off-site control room (Astrosec) is unavailable due to technical issues or breakdowns.

Your job will be to monitor alarms and dispatch the tactical team or responder when necessary, ensuring the estate remains secure.

Monitoring Estate CCTV Main Gate Cameras:

You’ll ensure that security officers are posted visibly at entry and exit lanes to maintain a strong security presence.

You’ll also monitor officers’ patrols and make sure they stay alert during their shifts, particularly after hours.

Pulse Vehicle Tracking and Kilometer Readings:

You’ll oversee the tracking of security vehicles to make sure patrols are conducted as required, both inside and outside the estate.

In case of emergencies, you’ll locate the nearest vehicle and dispatch it quickly to handle the situation.

CIIMS/Online System Management:

This PC-based system is crucial for recording all occurrences, incidents, shift changes, and other essential data within the control room.

You’ll need to ensure that all entries are accurate and up-to-date, making sure the next shift receives a proper handover with all necessary information.

Required Qualifications

Matric (Grade 12): You must have completed high school.

Psira Grade B: This security qualification is mandatory.

CCTV Course: Completion of a relevant CCTV course is required to qualify for this role.
