As a General Worker at Fraser Alexander, your job will be to help meet operational goals for handling and depositing tailings—a material left over from mining. You’ll be working outdoors in a real mining environment, helping to manage materials, move equipment, and support safe, efficient site operations.

This job is hands-on, active, and perfect for someone who enjoys physical work and being part of a strong, supportive team.

Daily Responsibilities

Here’s what your workday could include:

Working closely with your team leader or supervisor to meet daily operational targets
Inspecting your assigned area every day to ensure everything is safe and running smoothly
Planning and managing tailings materials on site and making sure they are moved and deposited correctly
Helping solve problems on the spot and reporting any issues to your supervisor
Following company procedures and staying disciplined at all times
Following safety rules according to legislation and company safety standards
Assisting with pipeline connections and extensions
Opening and closing valves to control material flow
Keeping your area clean and organized at all times (good housekeeping)
Taking full responsibility for your performance and safety

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualification

Grade 12 / Matric certificate or an equivalent qualification

Experience

0 to 2 years of experience in a similar working environment (like construction or earth moving)
Having worked in tailings dam operations or in mining is a big advantage, but not required

Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to work as part of a team
Good at planning and staying organized
Alert, careful, and ready to take action when needed
