Gauteng Department of Education Invites Suitably Qualified Applicants to Apply for Social Worker Grade 1 Vacancies (X11 Posts). The closing date for applications is 04 July 2025.

If you’re a qualified Social Worker with a passion for supporting learners and making a real impact in education, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is hiring 11 Social Workers across five districts. This isn’t just another government post—it’s your chance to uplift communities, change lives, and grow your career within the public service.

Why Social Workers Are Critical in Schools

The GDE understands this and is strengthening its workforce with professionals who can support learners, parents, and educators.

You won’t just be working in an office—you’ll be on the ground, engaging with learners, guiding Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, and making sure every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive in a safe environment.
