CapeNature invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their EPWP Pupil Landscape Support Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 26 May 2025.

Are you passionate about nature and want to work in conservation while getting paid R420 per day? If yes, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. CapeNature, through their Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), is now looking for someone to join their team as a Pupil Landscape Support worker. This exciting position is based in the beautiful Garden Route and runs for 33 months, giving you plenty of time to gain valuable experience and make a real impact.

This is an entry-level job, which means it’s perfect if you’re just starting your career in environmental services or conservation. You’ll be working with the Landscape East Business Unit, under the Conservation Operations Division. If you’ve always dreamed of protecting nature, working outdoors, and helping your community understand the environment better, this could be the perfect fit for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Pupil Landscape Support team member, your main job will be helping the Conservation Off Reserve section with many tasks. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Helping expand protected nature areas and supporting local conservancies.
  • Creating and updating databases, keeping records organized, analyzing data, and gathering useful information.
  • Assisting with monitoring and making sure people follow environmental laws outside protected areas.
  • Taking part in investigations when rules are broken and helping with joint operations to enforce laws.
  • Doing inspections and writing reports for permits related to animals and plants.
  • Reviewing plans and checking for risks in environmental management.
  • Giving advice to the public about nature conservation and educating them on the importance of protecting the environment.
  • Helping with sick or injured wildlife.

What You Need to Qualify

Before you apply, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Education: You must have a National Diploma in Nature Conservation.
  • Experience: You need at least 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Language Skills: You must be able to communicate well in at least two languages spoken in the Western Cape rural areas.
  • Computer Skills: You should know how to use Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Writing & Presenting: You need to be good at writing reports and giving presentations.
  • Criminal Record: You must have no criminal record.
  • Fitness: You must be physically fit to handle the job’s duties.
  • Flexibility: You should be willing to work irregular hours, including weekends if needed.

Why You Should Apply

  • Get Paid: Earn R420 per day, which adds up quickly.
  • Gain Experience: Build your skills and grow your career in the environmental field.
  • Make a Difference: Help protect South Africa’s natural beauty and wildlife.
  • Long-Term Contract: Work for 33 months, almost 3 years of steady income and experience.
  • Work Outdoors: Spend your days in nature instead of sitting behind a desk.

How to Apply

Make sure to apply before the closing date: 26 May 2025. Late applications won’t be considered, so don’t wait until the last minute. Be sure to have all your documents ready, including your CV, certified copies of qualifications, and your ID.

If you care about the environment, want a job with meaning, and meet the requirements, this is your chance to join CapeNature and make a real impact.
