Rhodes Universityβs Housekeeping Services team is searching for hardworking and experienced Housekeepers to ensure cleanliness and smooth operations in the universityβs residence halls. If you have leadership skills, experience in industrial cleaning, and a passion for maintaining top-notch facilities, this job is for you!
As a Housekeeper, you will:
βοΈ Supervise and guide cleaning staff within assigned residence halls.
βοΈ Plan and coordinate cleaning schedules for efficiency.
βοΈ Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
βοΈ Manage cleaning supplies and stock control.
βοΈ Report and follow up on maintenance requests for the buildings.
βοΈ Handle basic administrative tasks related to cleaning operations.
βοΈ Respond to any reasonable requests from the Line Manager.
To be considered, you must have:

Matric (Grade 12) with at least 4 years of relevant experience, including:
βοΈ 3 years of cleaning experience in an industrial environment with proper hygiene protocols.
βοΈ Experience in administration within a computerized system.
βοΈ At least 6 months of experience with stock control and record-keeping.
βοΈ Knowledge of planning daily cleaning schedules and handling electronic correspondence.
βοΈ At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor/team leader OR a 1-year Staff Supervision Certificate plus 1 year of supervision experience.
