Rhodes University’s Housekeeping Services team is searching for hardworking and experienced Housekeepers to ensure cleanliness and smooth operations in the university’s residence halls. If you have leadership skills, experience in industrial cleaning, and a passion for maintaining top-notch facilities, this job is for you!
As a Housekeeper, you will:
✔️ Supervise and guide cleaning staff within assigned residence halls.
✔️ Plan and coordinate cleaning schedules for efficiency.
✔️ Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
✔️ Manage cleaning supplies and stock control.
✔️ Report and follow up on maintenance requests for the buildings.
✔️ Handle basic administrative tasks related to cleaning operations.
✔️ Respond to any reasonable requests from the Line Manager.
To be considered, you must have:
✅ Matric (Grade 12) with at least 4 years of relevant experience, including:
✔️ 3 years of cleaning experience in an industrial environment with proper hygiene protocols.
✔️ Experience in administration within a computerized system.
✔️ At least 6 months of experience with stock control and record-keeping.
✔️ Knowledge of planning daily cleaning schedules and handling electronic correspondence.
✔️ At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor/team leader OR a 1-year Staff Supervision Certificate plus 1 year of supervision experience.
