What You’ll Be Doing as a Receptionist

As the first face patients see when they walk into the medical centre, your role is more than just sitting behind a desk. You’ll help guide the patient journey from the moment they arrive until they leave. You’ll also be part of a close team that supports each other every day.

Welcome patients with a warm smile and assist them through the check-in process.
Answer phones professionally and direct calls to the right person or department.

Handle payments and co-payments, follow the daily cash-up process, and keep accurate records.
Keep the reception area clean and tidy, making sure it feels calm and welcoming.
Refer emergencies immediately to the nurse’s station based on the clinic’s protocols.
Assist with account questions and pass on more complicated queries to the right people.
Protect patient privacy at all times, following POPIA guidelines.
