Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced Cleaners for their Loftus Park store. You’ll be keeping the store clean and tidy, meeting Dis-Chem’s high hygiene standards. This includes the shop floor, stock room, dispensary, admin office, and canteen areas.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• At least 6 months of cleaning experience
• Good command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Knowledge of an additional local language
• Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• Ability to speak more than one language
• Previous experience cleaning in a retail store

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the store, including shop floor and communal areas, before the store opens.
• Develop routines to keep all store areas clean.
• Ensure the canteen and restrooms are always clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Be available during store hours to clean up as needed.
• Use the correct cleaning products and equipment for different tasks.
• Display wet floor signs visibly when cleaning floors.
• Be friendly, professional, and ready to assist customers.
• Follow Health and Safety Regulations while performing duties.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

• Prior cleaning experience
• Good English skills (both written and spoken)
• Basic customer service skills
• Trustworthy and honest
• Attention to detail
• Presentable appearance
• Ability to follow instructions
• Good time management

Advantageous:

• Previous retail cleaning experience
• Ability to speak multiple languages

Special Conditions of Employment

• Must be willing and able to work retail hours
• Physically fit for tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
• Reliable transport or living close to the store
• Must be a South African citizen
• Clear credit and criminal records
