LEARNSETA: ECD Learnership Opportunity Across South Africa – Matriculants Wanted

LEARNSETA Invites Young South Africans to Apply for Early Childhood Development Learnerships (X50+ Posts). The closing date for applications is fast approaching, so don’t miss this chance!

If you’ve been dreaming about working with children and making a real difference, this is your moment. LEARNSETA is giving young people across all provinces in South Africa a chance to apply for their Early Childhood Development (ECD) Learnership Programme. This exciting opportunity is perfect for anyone who has finished Matric and wants to grow their career while earning and learning at the same time.

The ECD Learnership helps you gain real work experience, learn new skills, and earn a nationally recognized qualification – all in one program. Best of all, it’s open to young South Africans aged 18 to 35, and no previous work experience is needed. Just bring your passion for working with children and your willingness to learn.

What Is the ECD Learnership?

This learnership is all about helping you get trained to work in Early Childhood Development – which means working with small children, helping them grow, learn, and feel safe. You’ll be trained in things like planning lessons, watching over kids’ safety, and even working closely with families and communities.

And the best part? You don’t need a university degree to apply – just a National Senior Certificate (Matric) or NCV qualification. Once you complete the learnership, you’ll receive an NQF-registered certificate that can help you get a job in schools, creches, or child care centres.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for this amazing opportunity, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID.
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Have completed Matric (NSC) or National Certificate: Vocational (NCV).
  • Have basic computer skills or be willing to learn.
  • Be passionate about working with children and ready to work hard.

You’ll also sign a Learnership Agreement which explains your rights and responsibilities during the programme. There will also be an Employment Contract, but this will only be valid for the time you are in the learnership.

What Will You Learn and Do?

During the ECD Learnership, you’ll gain real experience in child development. You’ll:

  • Plan and prepare for early childhood activities.
  • Monitor children’s growth and development.
  • Care for and support young children.
  • Assess how well children are learning.
  • Promote health and safety in child-friendly environments.
  • Work closely with other teachers, families, and communities.
  • Help manage and run organized learning programmes.

You’ll be working hands-on, learning by doing, and building the kind of experience that employers want to see.

Why You Should Apply Now

Learnerships like these are very popular and don’t come around often. They help you get:

  • Work experience while you study.
  • A monthly stipend (money) to support yourself.
  • A qualification that’s recognized across South Africa.
  • A career path in education or child development.

With ECD professionals in high demand, completing this learnership could be your first step into a stable and rewarding job.
