Position: Collector

Are you skilled in customer service, debt collection, and road safety? Lewis Furniture is looking for a Collector to join their team in Roodepoort. This role is crucial in managing branch debtors and ensuring the debtors’ book is well-maintained through effective collections and voluntary repossessions.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Collector, your primary goal is to recover outstanding payments from customers. In addition to collections, you’ll support store operations, helping drive sales and maintain standards. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

Core Responsibilities:

• Obtain overdue customer profiles and take action to recover arrears.
• Visit customers to collect outstanding payments or approved merchandise.
• Facilitate voluntary repossession processes with proper documentation.
• Negotiate increased installment payments with customers and ensure agreements are formalized.
• Maintain the branch vehicle, including scheduling repairs and ensuring safe parking.
• Safeguard company assets like the vehicle and fuel card.
• Check merchandise being transported and report any discrepancies.
• Support and resolve customer complaints linked to collections.
• Follow strict road safety and vehicle regulations.

Additional Duties:

• Assist with in-store tasks like promotions, housekeeping, and customer service when needed.

What You Need to Qualify

Requirements:

• Matric Certificate.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code B).
• Proficient in English.
• Clear criminal record.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience as an Accounts Assistant or in collections.
• Knowledge of local roads and transport systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Self-discipline to adhere to road safety and collection regulations.
