The National Bioproducts Institute (NBI) invites suitably qualified young South Africans to apply for their Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S) Programme Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 27 November 2025. This is your chance to gain real hands-on experience in one of the most respected pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in South Africa.
If you are passionate about science, healthcare, and helping others, then this opportunity is for you. The National Bioproducts Institute (NBI) is one of Africa’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of therapeutic proteins and diagnostic products. Their main goal is simple but powerful — to help patients live better lives by creating high-quality medicines that ease pain and suffering.
Through the Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S) Programme, NBI aims to empower young, unemployed South Africans by giving them a 12-month training and work experience opportunity. This is not just another internship — it’s a life-changing journey where you’ll gain valuable technical skills in a biopharmaceutical production environment.
Working at NBI means you’ll be surrounded by experts and passionate professionals who care about making a difference in people’s lives. As part of the Y.E.S Programme, you will learn how advanced medicines are made from plasma, gain insight into pharmaceutical production, and develop workplace skills that will open doors for your future career.
You’ll work closely with experienced Process Technicians, Fractionators, and Pooling Technicians, learning about the critical processes behind plasma-derived medicines — the kind that saves lives every day.
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
Once selected, you’ll become part of a highly skilled production team and help create safe and effective medicines. Your duties will include:
You’ll also learn how to handle sensitive materials and operate in a regulated, world-class production facility.
Because NBI works with biological materials and chemicals, health and safety are top priorities. Therefore, all candidates must:
Working hours will depend on your department. You may work either a 45-hour week (Monday to Sunday) or a 40-hour week, depending on your assigned role.
By joining this programme, you’ll grow both personally and professionally. NBI focuses on building key competencies, including:
These are the kinds of skills that employers look for — and they’ll make your CV stand out long after the programme ends.
This programme is part of NBI’s ongoing effort to promote Employment Equity in South Africa. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates from designated groups as per the Employment Equity Act.
Your personal information will be handled carefully in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act No. 4 of 2013.
If you meet the requirements and are ready to take your first big step into the pharmaceutical world, visit the NBI official website and submit your application before 27 November 2025.
If you do not hear back from NBI within 30 days after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
This is more than a job — it’s your opportunity to learn, grow, and be part of something that truly matters. Don’t miss out on the chance to start your career with one of South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
