What You’ll Be Doing as a News24 Production Journalist

Your main role will be to make sure the content published on News24 is top-quality, accurate, and ready for readers across the country. You’ll work with editors, writers, and the technical team to keep the site updated through the night. Your job will include:

Creating and editing online-ready news content with images and graphics
Monitoring breaking news from local and international sources
Rewriting and reshaping content to match the News24 style
Moderating and managing reader comments on stories
Running live news blogs when major events happen
Sending out newsletters when needed
Managing the main News24 site content flow when the editor is not available
Being ready to work weekends, holidays, and late-night hours

This role needs someone who works well under pressure and isn’t afraid of fast deadlines or a full inbox. If you enjoy writing and are good at spotting errors others miss, this is where you belong.

What You Need to Qualify

A relevant tertiary qualification in journalism or media
3–5 years of experience working in the journalism industry
Solid online journalism experience
Proven background as a reporter, sub-editor, or production journalist

Basic knowledge of photo editing and simple graphic tools
Good understanding of content management systems (CMS)
