Job Purpose: Code 10 Driver
The main responsibility of a Code 10 Driver at Pedros is to safely transport goods from one point to another within a given time frame. You will be trusted with ensuring that all deliveries are made accurately, efficiently, and in line with road safety rules and company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Code 10 Driver at Pedros, your daily tasks will include:
- Following schedules and procedures to deliver goods on time.
- Handling the company vehicle responsibly and ensuring safe operation at all times.
- Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and reporting mechanical faults immediately.
- Completing vehicle inspection sheets and ensuring refueling is done when required.
- Checking the truck list and following the correct route to the destination.
- Inspecting the vehicle and load before departure to ensure safety and compliance.
- Practicing safe driving habits, including:
- Wearing seat belts at all times
- Avoiding speeding, eating, smoking, or using mobile devices while driving
- Adhering strictly to the Road Traffic Act and prioritizing the safety of other road users.
- Following all rules under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Complying with company policies, safety rules, and industry regulations.
- Making sure vehicles are correctly loaded and that load documentation matches deliveries.
- Confirming correct quantities and products are delivered at each stop.
- Obtaining proof of delivery signatures from clients.
- Loading and offloading products, including pallets, when needed.
- Returning empty containers, products, or undelivered invoices back to the warehouse.
- Keeping the truck and workspace clean and organized in line with 5S standards.
- Reporting to work in proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Being punctual for every shift, even during early morning call-ins.
- Willingness to work day or night shifts when scheduled.
- Recording daily activities on the company system.
- Completing all delivery-related documents accurately and on time.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
- At least 5 years proven work experience as a driver in the industry.
- A valid South African ID.
- A valid Code 10 Driver’s License.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
