The Silo Operator Learnership is designed to train individuals in the complex functions of grain handling, silo operations, and food supply management. This is a structured learning programme where you will gain practical experience while working under expert supervision.

Learners will be directly involved in tasks that ensure the safe storage, handling, and monitoring of grain — one of the most vital aspects of the agricultural chain.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
A certificate in grain grading and grain fumigation is essential.
Experience in a similar environment will be considered an added advantage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a learner Silo Operator, you will be expected to assist with and eventually take responsibility for tasks such as:

Monitoring the flow of grain continuously to ensure smooth operations.
Ensuring grain protection through fumigation, as directed by your supervisor.
Monitoring grain tube temperature and reporting any irregularities immediately.
Measuring grain tubes according to company policies and strict safety regulations.
Operating silo equipment in compliance with VKB Group policies and safety standards.
