As a General Worker, you will be responsible for operating various equipment and supporting the production process in accordance with the company’s safety and quality standards. About the Role

The General Worker (Fixed-Term Contract) plays a key role in ensuring that all equipment and production activities run smoothly. You’ll operate machines according to the company’s procedures, report any issues or defects, and ensure that production targets are met while maintaining strict safety standards. This position requires strong focus, responsibility, and a willingness to follow procedures precisely.

Key Responsibilities

If selected for this position, your duties will include:

  • Operating machinery accurately and efficiently, following all company operating procedures and schedules.
  • Ensuring that production output meets the quality standards outlined in the company’s quality plan.
  • Reporting any mechanical defects, unsafe conditions, or deviations from normal production processes to the Production Technician immediately.
  • Calibrating gauges correctly at the start of each shift to ensure accuracy.
  • Applying the right roll bending pressures to prevent material pinching, as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the workplace by following good housekeeping principles and the 6S system.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and operational policies at all times.

This is a physically demanding job, so applicants must be physically fit and able to perform manual tasks throughout the shift.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for the General Worker position, applicants should have the following:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, or
  • A Certificate in Chemical Operations or knowledge in basic chemistry, water treatment processes, and chemical safety handling.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in a steel production environment will be a strong advantage.
  • Experience or familiarity with Water Treatment Plant (ETP) operations and maintenance will be beneficial.

Having both academic knowledge and practical exposure to chemical or steel production will make your application stand out.
