SANParks Hiring Armed Field Guards at Mokala National Park (Apply Now)

South African National Parks (SANParks) invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for Armed Field Guard vacancies (X3 Posts) within Mokala National Park. What You’ll Do as an Armed Field Guard

The role of an Armed Field Guard comes with a wide range of important responsibilities. Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • Conducting routine patrols on foot or by vehicle to ensure the safety and integrity of the park.
  • Providing armed protection and guarding support for teams of up to 12 participants.
  • Assisting with area integrity management, making sure all parts of the park remain secure.
  • Taking part in anti-poaching operations and enforcing laws to protect wildlife.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents, sightings, or unusual activities.
  • Assisting in conservation-related activities such as alien plant control and environmental monitoring.

This is a physically demanding role, but also one of the most rewarding jobs for anyone who wants to contribute to the protection of nature.


What You’ll Need to Qualify

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Valid firearm documentation with proven firearm competency in Self-Loading Rifle (Unit standards 117705, 119650, and 123511).
  • No criminal record – a valid SAPS Clearance Certificate must be submitted with your application.
  • Proof of residence.
  • Completion of a Basic Field Ranger Course.
  • Basic understanding of Health & Safety (Level 1).
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry out long patrols under tough conditions.
  • A genuine passion for biodiversity, conservation, and working with people.
  • Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness.
  • Some level of field ranger experience is preferred.

Salary and Benefits

The total remuneration for this role is based on the Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP) daily rate of R311.00 per day. While this is a contract-based role, it provides valuable experience in both the conservation and security industries and offers the chance to grow within SANParks and related organizations.
