What Does a Cash Processor Do?

As a Cash Processor at SBV, your main job is to handle cash in a way that keeps everything safe and organized. You’ll be the one making sure that client deposits, payrolls, and change requests are processed accurately and on time. Here’s a breakdown of what your day-to-day tasks might look like:

Receiving Cash:

  • When cash deposits come in, you’ll log them into the system right away.
  • It’s crucial to follow all the company’s rules to avoid any risks to the company or customers.
  • You’ll need to carefully check the cash bags or containers for any signs of damage or tampering and report anything suspicious.
  • Once you’ve checked everything, you’ll prepare the cash for counting.

Sorting Notes:

  • The cash that comes in needs to be sorted quickly, often on the same day.
  • If any notes are rejected, you’ll need to double-check them for issues like counterfeits or damage.
  • After sorting, you’ll do a reconciliation to make sure everything adds up correctly.
  • At the end of the day, you’ll balance all the cash you’ve handled to ensure it matches the records.

You Might Also Like:

Processing Coins:

  • Bulk coin deposits will also come your way, and you’ll need to process these following SBV’s specific guidelines.
  • You’ll sort and manage the transfer of coins between tellers, keeping everything organized and accurate.

Handling Payroll and Change Requests:

  • For payroll and change orders, you’ll process everything according to each customer’s service level agreement (SLA).
  • If there’s a problem, like a discrepancy in amounts, you’ll report it to your Team Controller quickly.
  • Before you send out any payroll or change, you’ll make sure everything is approved and packed correctly.

Bank System Integration:

  • Some transactions are linked to the bank’s system, and you’ll need to validate these to ensure there are no errors.
  • If there’s a delay or issue, you’ll escalate it to your team controller to prevent any customer problems.

Prepack/Treasury Tasks:

Sometimes, you’ll help with packing and unpacking bank and ATM cash.

Managing supplies and ensuring that everything is properly sealed and labeled will be part of your role.

You’ll also be responsible for making sure all the equipment you use is in good working condition.

What You Need to Apply:

  • Experience: It’s great if you’ve worked as a cashier or teller for 6 to 12 months, but it’s not a must.
  • Education: You need to have a Matric certificate with Maths Literacy.
  • Training: If you’ve completed SBV’s Cash Processor training, that’s a big plus.

Why Work at SBV?

This is a junior, short-term position, but it’s a fantastic way to get your foot in the door with a well-respected company in the cash management industry. You’ll gain valuable experience, and if you prove yourself, it could lead to more opportunities down the line.
