An exciting opportunity has opened up at Shoe City Support Office within the Merchandise department for a Buyer. The ideal candidate is proactive, assertive, and a confident go-getter. Your role will involve the procurement and building of the footwear range in line with company strategies, adding strategic value to the brand.

📚 Qualifications

Essential: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
Advantageous: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field.

💡 Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

Minimum of 5 years proven retail experience in footwear buying/procurement or experience within the footwear manufacturing environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of footwear constructions and materials.
Proficiency in the latest Google packages (Slides & Sheets).
Ability to travel internationally.

Desirable:

Passion for staying updated with the latest trends.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent relationship-building and networking skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Assertive and deadline-focused.
Flexible, able to work under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

Achieve Financial Goals: Exceed the Company’s inflow margin and GP Rands as outlined in seasonal business plan meetings.
Seasonal Strategy: Drive and execute the seasonal product and purchasing strategy.
Trend Research: Research and understand seasonal trends in line with the target market.
Product Range: Build a competitive product range according to the purchasing strategy.
Supplier Management: Source and select the correct supplier for the appropriate product category and manage them according to Company policies and procedures.
Procurement Administration: Execute procurement administration timely to meet target dates in the critical supply chain path.
Quality Compliance: Ensure compliance with agreed quality specifications and standards.
Cross-Functional Partnerships: Develop and influence partnerships with all specified key relationships.
