Purpose of the Job

The Graduate & Youth Programme Consultant role focuses on designing, delivering, and managing Shoprite’s talent pipeline programmes. These include:

  • Graduate internships
  • Bursaries
  • Youth employment initiatives

The goal is to make sure Shoprite always has a strong pool of future talent while helping young people grow in their careers. In this role, you’ll work closely with stakeholders, track programme performance, and ensure everything runs smoothly according to Shoprite’s strategic objectives.


Main Job Objectives

As a Grad & Youth Programme Consultant, you will be responsible for the following:

1. Programme Design & Delivery

  • Ensure programmes comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Plan graduate and bursary initiatives that align with Shoprite’s workforce needs.
  • Coordinate logistics such as training schedules, mentorship structures, and induction sessions.
  • Support programme rollout and delivery across different departments.

2. Talent Acquisition & Engagement

  • Lead recruitment campaigns at universities, colleges, and youth platforms.
  • Build strong relationships with academic institutions and partners.
  • Promote Shoprite’s employer brand at events and on digital platforms.
  • Provide information and guidance to candidates and stakeholders.

3. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track participant progress and programme performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of interns, graduates, and bursary holders.
  • Analyse programme outcomes and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership teams.
  • Collect feedback from participants through post-programme evaluations.

4. Strategic Development & Innovation

  • Research best practices in graduate and youth development.
  • Explore opportunities to improve Shoprite’s talent pipeline.
  • Contribute to digital tools that make programme management easier.
  • Integrate bursary initiatives into Shoprite’s broader workforce strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • A Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Education, or a related field.

Experience Required

  • At least 2+ years of experience in recruitment, graduate programme management, or youth development.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and programme coordination.

Knowledge and Skills Needed

  • Essential: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advantageous:
    • Experience with recruitment platforms like Neptune.
    • Exposure to retail or FMCG environments.
