Job Objectives

1. Product Range and Line Determination
   • Make sure Shoprite is always competitive with prices.
   • Ensure a wide variety of products are available.
   • Keep everything organized and well-documented.
2. Product Pricing Administration
   • Keep prices competitive.
   • Set prices based on market trends and what competitors are doing.
   • Negotiate to get the best prices.
   • Keep sensitive information confidential.
3. Advertising and Promotions Management
   • Choose products and manage their price points.
   • Keep an eye on what competitors are charging.
   • Ensure products are always in stock.
   • Provide timely information to the marketing team.
4. Resolve Stock Level Issues
   • Stay updated on price changes and shortages.
   • Advise distribution centers proactively.
5. International Sourcing
   • Spot international trends and find profitable products.
   • Manage the entire supply chain process.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you need:

• A degree or diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Experience

You should have:

• Over 2 years of experience in a buying role, especially with private label and imported products.
• Experience in sourcing and managing suppliers, and negotiating with vendors.

Knowledge and Skills

To do well in this role, you need:

• A good understanding of supply chain concepts and systems.
• Knowledge of what affects product costs and selling prices.
• Understanding of the retail value chain and profitability drivers.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365, especially Excel.
