These positions are spread throughout Mpumalanga to ensure that communities across the province have access to essential labour services.

As a Client Service Officer, you’ll be the first point of contact for the public. You’ll assist job seekers with registration, help employers post vacancies, and make sure people get the support they need when it comes to employment, training, and labour-related issues.

Who Can Apply

To qualify, you only need a Grade 12 / Senior Certificate, making this a great entry-level opportunity for school leavers and young job seekers.

Knowledge and Skills You’ll Need

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

  • Knowledge of the Unemployment Insurance Act, UI Contributions Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
  • Understanding of Batho Pele Principles and other Department of Labour policies.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Good interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette.
  • Computer literacy, especially in basic software applications.
  • The ability to handle customer complaints and find solutions quickly.
  • Time management and listening skills.

Main Responsibilities

As a Client Service Officer, your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Registering job seekers and learning opportunities on the ESSA system.
  • Assisting employers to register work opportunities.
  • Referring job seekers to Employment Counselling Services.
  • Supporting the placement of candidates into employment or training opportunities.
  • Handling general administrative tasks related to labour services.
  • Managing complaints and queries from clients.
  • Serving at the help desk as the first point of contact for visitors.
  • Promoting departmental services through community outreach or advocacy sessions.
