The Warehouse Assistant will report directly to the Parts Controller and will help ensure the warehouse operates efficiently while maintaining Volvo’s high standards.

What Does a Warehouse Assistant Do?

As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching vehicle parts while making sure all warehouse processes follow Volvo’s procedures.

Your work will help ensure customers receive the correct parts quickly and accurately.

Main Job Responsibilities

Your daily duties may include:

Receiving Goods

  • Receiving incoming stock according to Volvo procedures
  • Checking that deliveries match the accompanying documents
  • Recording damaged or incorrect items on the warehouse system
  • Reporting shortages or discrepancies immediately
  • Placing stock in the correct storage locations

Picking and Dispatching Orders

You will also be responsible for preparing customer and workshop orders by:

  • Picking the correct parts
  • Packing orders carefully
  • Dispatching the correct quantities
  • Updating the warehouse system after authorisation
  • Ensuring workshop technicians receive their parts as quickly as possible

Accuracy is very important because incorrect orders can delay repairs and affect customer satisfaction.

Processing Credit Notes

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Checking and verifying credit notes
  • Filing documents correctly
  • Following company procedures for returned parts
  • Ensuring non-returnable items, such as certain electrical parts, are handled correctly

Stock Control

Keeping accurate stock records is a key part of this position.

You will assist with:

  • Daily stock counts
  • Bin verification checks
  • Investigating stock shortages or differences
  • Updating records after receiving approval
  • Helping maintain accurate inventory levels

Strong attention to detail is essential to minimise stock losses and maintain accurate warehouse records.

Warehouse Housekeeping

Maintaining a clean and organised warehouse is another important responsibility.

You will help by:

  • Keeping the warehouse clean and tidy
  • Storing parts correctly
  • Making sure shelves and bins remain organised
  • Removing waste regularly
  • Helping maintain warehouse security

A clean warehouse improves safety and makes it easier to find stock quickly.

Exchange Parts

As part of your duties, you may also:

  • Receive returned exchange parts from customers
  • Store returned parts safely
  • Prepare supplier returns
  • Pack and label parts correctly before they are sent back

Health and Safety

You will be expected to follow all Volvo health and safety procedures at all times.

This includes:

  • Following warehouse safety rules
  • Using equipment correctly
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
  • Helping prevent workplace accidents

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • A Diploma in Warehouse Management or
  • At least three years of warehouse experience
