Gert Sibande TVET College is inviting applications for the Carbon Steel Welding and Gas Cutting Skills Training Programme (100 Posts) in 2025. The closing date for applications is 29 August 2025. If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, unemployed, and ready to gain real skills that can change your future, then this is your chance.
This training opportunity comes through a partnership between Gert Sibande TVET College and KBS Artisan Training, both committed to creating better opportunities for young people. With only 100 posts available, this programme is designed to give you practical technical skills that employers in engineering and manufacturing are actively looking for.
The programme is focused on welding and gas cutting — skills that are in high demand in many industries, including construction, mining, shipbuilding, automotive, and energy. Welding may sound simple, but it is one of the most valuable trades in today’s job market. Skilled welders can work anywhere in the world, start their own businesses, or even secure long-term jobs in big companies.
This training is short, practical, and straight to the point, so that after three months, you walk away with useful skills you can actually use. The aim is not only to make you employable but also to give you the confidence to compete in industries that are always looking for people with these abilities.
There are two programmes open for application, with 50 seats each:
Both are designed to give you a strong foundation, even if you’ve never worked with welding before. By the end of the training, you will be able to handle real equipment, understand safety rules, and perform tasks that are part of everyday work in welding and fabrication.
The training will run for three months. During this period, you will learn from experienced trainers in a hands-on way. This means less theory and more actual practice, so you can build confidence while working on real tasks.
This programme is not open to everyone, but if you meet the following requirements, then you can apply:
This ensures the opportunity benefits local communities and addresses the unemployment problem among youth in the area.
This is more than just free training. It is a career-changing opportunity. With welding and gas cutting skills, you can:
Employers are always searching for skilled welders, and by completing this programme, you make yourself stand out.
Before applying, make sure you have these documents ready:
All applications must be emailed to: jp.clerk@gscollege.edu.za
Spaces are limited to 100 posts only, and many young people will be applying. If you are serious about your future, don’t wait until the last day. Prepare your documents and apply early. Missing this chance could mean waiting another year or more for a similar opportunity.
This partnership between Gert Sibande TVET College and KBS Artisan Training shows a strong commitment to youth development, education, and community upliftment. If you’ve been looking for a chance to build your future, this could be the opportunity that changes everything.
