What’s the Job About?
As a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) at Medirite, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist with day-to-day tasks. Your work will help ensure patients get the right medication and enjoy excellent service.
You’ll be involved in:
- Dispensing medication under a registered pharmacist’s supervision
- Handling stock and inventory
- Performing pharmacy-related admin tasks
- Helping with front shop service and general housekeeping

Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)
Here’s a breakdown of your daily tasks:
1. Dispensing (Supervised)
- Accurately prepare and label prescriptions under the guidance of a pharmacist
- Make sure patients receive the right medications with the right dosage instructions
- Keep the dispensing area clean, organized, and fully stocked
2. Stock Control
- Keep track of medication stock levels
- Assist in ordering stock when supplies are low
- Rotate stock to avoid expiry
- Report any shortages or stock issues
3. Administration
- Help with data entry and record-keeping tasks
- Maintain accurate files and documentation for prescriptions
- Support the pharmacist with any paperwork needed for reporting or compliance
4. Frontshop Service
- Greet customers warmly and assist with over-the-counter products
- Answer customer queries in a helpful and professional manner
- Make sure shelves are neatly packed and correctly priced
5. Housekeeping
- Keep the pharmacy neat, clean, and welcoming for all visitors
- Sanitize work areas regularly
- Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a hygienic environment
What You Need to Apply
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified as a Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- 2 years or more experience in a similar pharmacy role
Important Skills and Qualities
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly and customer service orientated
- Good at working with dispensing systems and pharmacy software
- Comfortable managing stock and working within retail or FMCG environments
