AECI Mining invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Operations Assistant Vacancies (X3 Posts). The closing date for applications is 10 December 2025.
These positions offer a rare chance to join one of South Africa’s most trusted mining solutions companies, especially if you are hardworking, safety-focused, and ready to learn. If you have always wanted to build a career in the mining and explosives industry, these roles can be a strong stepping-stone.
Working as an Operations Assistant at AECI Mining is not a simple labour job. This role connects directly to the company’s core operations, especially the preparation and charging of blasts. The people hired for these positions play an important part in supporting the Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU trucks), helping with site cleanliness, and making sure blasting activities follow strict safety standards.
AECI Mining operates in a highly regulated environment, so the company is looking for dependable people who can follow rules, handle hazardous materials safely, and support the MMU Controller. If you want a job that teaches technical, hands-on skills while offering real growth opportunities, this is the type of role that builds long-term careers.
One of the biggest responsibilities of this role is helping the MMU Controller operate the mobile manufacturing unit, also known as the BLEND truck. These trucks are used to mix and load explosive products on site. Your job will be to assist with operations to make sure the customer receives the right product at the right time, following AECI’s standards and OTIF procedures.
AECI Mining follows SABS and World Class systems to ensure all equipment is safe and compliant. As an Operations Assistant, you will help the MMU Controller carry out regular inspections on MMU trucks and fixed plants. This helps identify any problems early and supports continuous improvement.
Your role is important because spotting a small problem could prevent a major issue later. You will help check equipment, report faults, and make sure everything is handled according to company rules.
AECI Mining expects Operations Assistants to help with several blasting-related duties. These include measuring blast holes, guarding, stemming charged holes, and assisting in cleaning the blast area. You may also help with charging explosives on the bench under supervision.
These tasks require attention to detail, physical fitness, and the ability to follow instructions carefully. Safety comes first in everything you do.
Cleanliness is a major part of this job. You will be responsible for maintaining high housekeeping standards at the site, including:
AECI Mining follows World Class Standards, which means everything must be clean, safe, and ready to use at all times.
You will help load and unload packaged explosives, accessories, and other materials. This requires a good understanding of how hazardous products should be handled, stored, and transported. You must follow strict legal and safety rules while working in the depot or on the bench.
Even though you will be part of a team, AECI Mining wants someone who can work independently when required. You will need to stay focused, be responsible, and complete tasks without constant supervision.
To qualify, you must have:
These are the minimum requirements needed to perform your duties safely and effectively.
You should understand:
These skills ensure you remain safe while managing explosives and other sensitive products.
Because this job includes working with explosives and heavy equipment, you must be able to obtain a red ticket health clearance. This confirms you are medically fit to work in the mining environment.
The mining sector is known for offering long-term stability, career growth and strong technical training. Joining AECI Mining as an Operations Assistant is not just about doing manual work. It is a chance to gain specialised skills that few people have.
AECI Mining invests in safety, training, and career development. Many people who start as assistants grow into operators, controllers, supervisors, and even technical specialists over time. If you want a career, not just a job, this opportunity should not be ignored.
