Central Energy Fund (CEF) Opens In-Service Training Opportunities 2025/2026 – Apply Before Closing Date

The Central Energy Fund (CEF SOC) invites suitably qualified South African unemployed TVET college students to apply for the In-Service Training Programme 2025/2026 (10 Posts). The closing date for applications is 29 August 2025. If you are a recent N6 graduate who needs workplace exposure to complete your qualification, this is an opportunity you should not miss.

The CEF is a state-owned energy company that plays a key role in South Africa’s energy sector. It falls under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and focuses on a wide range of energy solutions, from fuel to cleaner and renewable energy sources. The In-Service Training Programme is designed to give students hands-on experience in a professional environment, ensuring they gain the practical skills needed to graduate and prepare for the workplace.

Where You’ll Be Based

For the 2025/2026 intake, successful candidates will be placed at:

  • Sandton (8 posts)
  • SANPC Refinery (2 posts)

This ensures exposure to both corporate and technical environments, depending on your field of study.

Who Can Apply for the CEF In-Service Training Programme?

The programme is open to South African TVET students who have completed their theoretical studies and now require practical training. To qualify, you must have an N6 Certificate in one of the following areas of study:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Public Administration
  • Business Management
  • Supply Chain / Logistics
  • Financial Management
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

This broad range of fields allows students from different academic backgrounds to gain valuable work experience in the energy sector.

Minimum Requirements You Need to Meet

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A Matric certificate and a completed N6 qualification in one of the listed fields
  • A letter from your institution confirming that you have finished your theory and still need in-service training to graduate
  • Be between the ages of 16 and 25 years old
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Must not already be enrolled in another internship or in-service training programme

These requirements ensure that the programme benefits students who genuinely need practical training to complete their studies.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

While qualifications are important, CEF is also looking for candidates with the right personal skills. These include:

  • Attention to detail – making sure tasks are completed accurately
  • Ability to learn and multitask – being able to adapt to new challenges and handle different responsibilities
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal, to work effectively in a professional setting

These skills will not only help you during the training but will also prepare you for future employment opportunities.

What You Will Gain from This Programme

The CEF In-Service Training Programme is more than just work experience – it is an opportunity to:

  • Get exposure to real workplace environments
  • Apply your classroom knowledge in practical situations
  • Work with experienced professionals who can guide and mentor you
  • Build a strong foundation for your career in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Engineering, or Logistics
  • Complete your qualification and increase your chances of employment after graduation

This programme is especially valuable because CEF operates in an industry that is critical to South Africa’s development – the energy sector. The knowledge and experience gained here will open doors to opportunities not only within the energy space but also in other industries.
