Who Qualifies?

Gold One Mine seeks candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

Education: Minimum Grade 11 or equivalent ABET Level
Location: Must reside in the Ekurhuleni Region
Languages: Proficiency in English; knowledge of other official languages is beneficial
Physical Fitness: Must not have claustrophobia or fear of confined spaces
Adaptability: Able to handle changes in a fast-paced environment
Deadline-Driven: Able to manage time effectively under pressure
Work Conditions: Must be comfortable working underground
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen
Clear Record: No criminal record
Medical Fitness: Must pass a medical fitness test at the Occupational Health Centre

Key Responsibilities:

As an Underground Sweeper, you’ll take on essential duties to keep operations smooth and safe. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

Sweeping and Reclamation: Work rotating shifts underground, assisting various production teams by sweeping ore and mud for reclamation.
Safety Awareness: Stay vigilant about potential hazards, ensuring that all unsafe conditions, materials, or equipment are reported promptly. Safety is a top priority, and every task must align with company standards and procedures.
Quality Work Standards: Perform all duties according to required standards, specifications, and supervisor instructions to maintain high-quality operations.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) standards and follow Gold One Group Limited’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”

Additional Information:

Training & Contract: This is a sweeper position, and successful candidates will be trained in accordance with company standards at Gold One Mine’s Training Centre. Initially, you’ll be hired on a 6-month fixed-term contract for the training period.
Post-Training Opportunities: Upon successful completion of training, candidates may be considered for a permanent contract based on available positions and performance. If a candidate does not meet competency standards by the end of the training, the probation contract will end.
Screening Requirements: All candidates must consent to background screening, including checks for criminal records, illegal substances, and other standard screening.
