What Will You Be Doing?
As an Artisan Boilermaker at Murray & Roberts, you’ll have a wide range of responsibilities. Your primary duties will include:
- Cost Management: Keeping project costs within budget.
- Engineering Construction: Building engineering installations according to strict guidelines, procedures, and standards.
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Ensuring all machinery is maintained and repaired on schedule and to the agreed standards.
- Team Leadership: Motivating and managing a skilled, competent team to achieve project goals.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhering to safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards as well as M&RC and client policies.
- Self-Management: Taking charge of your tasks while aligning with M&RC’s values.
- Effective Communication: Engaging with stakeholders in a professional and productive manner.
Do You Qualify?
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Education: Grade 12 or Level 4 equivalent.
- Trade Certification: Section 26 Boilermaker Trade Certificate or MIETTB Trade Certificate through a recognized institution.
- Health Requirements: A valid Medical Certificate of Fitness and a First Aid Certificate.
- Driving Skills: A valid Code EB driver’s license.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot within set guidelines, standards, and policies.
- Leadership: Demonstrated team leadership and management skills.
- Initiative: A self-motivated attitude with the ability to work independently and make decisions within established parameters.
- Planning: Strong job planning and organizational skills.

Experience Matters
You’ll need to have more than two years of experience in the mining industry, particularly underground work. Additionally, more than two years of experience as an Artisan Boilermaker is required. Experience in construction, particularly with Box Fronts, Bulkheads, and Tips, is a big plus. If you can read and interpret engineering drawings, you’ll have an added advantage.
