What This Job Is About

As a Basic Ambulance Assistant, your main responsibility is to respond to emergency situations and provide basic medical care to patients. You will work closely with paramedics and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the help they need quickly and safely.

What You Will Be Doing

Responding to Emergencies

Attend emergency calls and provide immediate assistance
Help transport patients safely to hospitals or medical facilities
Support paramedics during medical procedures

Patient Care and Support

Provide basic life support to patients
Monitor patient condition during transport
Keep patients calm and reassured during stressful situations

Working as Part of a Team

Communicate clearly with team members and control room staff
Follow instructions from senior medical personnel
Work together to ensure the best possible patient outcomes

Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12) is compulsory
A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) qualification
At least 3 years of relevant working experience
A valid Driver’s License and PDP
Registration with the HPCSA
Updated CPG compliance
