🎯 Job Purpose:
To provide professional on-site security services at Dis-Chem stores, in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act. Your role is to ensure a safe and secure environment by preventing theft, controlling access, and protecting staff and customers from harm or loss.
✅ Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (Matric)
- PSIRA Grade C registration (valid & active)
- At least 3 years of general security experience, preferably in retail (shopping malls, warehouses, etc.)
Advantageous:
- 1+ year experience in a similar role at a retail store
🔍 Key Duties:
- Perform routine patrols, monitor store premises, and detect suspicious behavior
- Control access at all entrances — screen vehicles and pedestrians
- Perform staff and supplier searches as per company policy
- Ensure doors, windows, and water taps are properly secured
- Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and surveillance equipment
- Complete all incident reports, registers, and daily logs
- Handle emergency situations, including contacting police or fire services
- Supervise opening and closing procedures of the store
- Report and investigate any signs of theft, damage, or intrusion
- Assist emergency teams, evacuate if necessary, and maintain order
- Be visible, friendly, and professional while engaging with staff and customers
- Take quick, appropriate action during crises or unusual events
- Enforce all safety rules and Dis-Chem policies
🧠 What You Must Know:
Knowledge & Skills:
- Working knowledge of PSIRA standards and duties
- Trained in fire emergencies, health, and safety
- Able to read, write, and speak English well (official company language)
- Basic report writing and communication skills
- Alert, quick thinker, and calm under pressure
Bonus:
- Knowledge of a third South African language
- Valid driver’s license and PDP if applying for a driver security post
