Job Purpose

The Buyer’s Assistant will provide accurate administrative support and general assistance to the buying team. This includes managing purchase orders, following up with suppliers, and ensuring that products are delivered on time and according to company standards.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate (essential).

Additional qualifications in Retail, Administration, Fashion Design, Clothing Production, Product Development, Merchandising, or related fields will be a strong advantage.


Experience and Skills Needed

To excel in this position, you will need the following:

  • At least 2 years of experience as an Administrator or Buyer’s Assistant in a retail or buying environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of PLM systems such as Airtable (advantageous).
  • Understanding of the retail cycle and buying process (beneficial).
  • Strong numerical skills with the ability to prepare accurate reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, stay positive, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Good time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities

As a Buyer’s Assistant at Tekkie Town, your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Handling all administration tasks related to the procurement process to ensure products are delivered on time.
  • Assisting Buyers with daily tasks and operational needs.
  • Capturing and monitoring purchase orders to track progress.
  • Updating style cards and managing product samples.
  • Communicating and following up with suppliers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners.
  • Updating company systems regularly to ensure accurate and current information.

This role is vital to keeping the buying process organized and efficient, ensuring that customers receive the latest products on time.
