Job Purpose

The main goal of the Infra Worker position is to assist the RNC Construction Teams with track maintenance and building work. You’ll be part of a team that ensures all construction and maintenance tasks are done safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Grade 9 qualification or 6 months of relevant work experience.
Physically fit (medical fitness test required).
Alert and safety-conscious at all times.
Able to communicate clearly in English.

Willing to relocate or work outside your home depot.
Comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights.

Daily Responsibilities

As a Transnet Infra Worker, you’ll perform a variety of important duties each day, including:

Following instructions from your Supervisor or Team Leader.

Loading and offloading materials safely.
Cleaning and maintaining work areas — removing weeds, stacking tools, sweeping, and disposing of rubble.
Safely using hand tools (non-mechanised) in a construction setting.
Ensuring tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained after use.

These daily activities keep work sites safe and efficient, ensuring that Transnet’s infrastructure projects stay on track.
