Job Overview:

As an Invigilator, your main role will be to oversee exams, ensuring they run smoothly and according to the rules. This is a critical job that requires responsibility and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report to the exam office before each exam session starts.
• Keep all exam papers and related materials secure.
• Make sure that the exam venues are set up according to the required standards.
• Admit students into the exam venues and check their IDs.
• Assign seats to students and explain exam procedures.
• Hand out exam papers and materials, and handle any questions from students.
• Good numeracy skills are essential as you’ll need to count papers and materials accurately.

Who Should Apply? To apply for this position, you need to meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

• You must have completed Grade 12.
• Any qualification beyond Grade 12 from a SAQA-accredited institution is also needed.
• If you’ve previously worked as an invigilator at VUT, you’ll be given preference.

Age Requirement:

• Applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 60.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Unemployed graduates.
• People who are not currently registered students at VUT or who have not graduated within the last two years.

Skills Needed:

• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different situations.
• Good interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with staff and students.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• A good understanding of how exams work.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Good numeracy skills are a must.
• Ability to write reports effectively.
