What You Need to Apply

To be eligible for these roles, you should have:

Educational Requirements: Grade 10 or a school leaving certificate with a testimonial from your principal. Being part of the Presidential Employment Youth Initiative (PEYI) will be an added advantage.
Skills: Good communication and customer care skills are essential.
Attributes: You should be responsible, able to identify learner needs, promote their welfare, and create learning opportunities.
Understanding: A basic understanding of learners’ human rights, public service principles, and respect for learners with special needs is crucial.
Passion for Teaching: Ability to motivate learners, build self-esteem, and recognize their strengths or talents.

Responsibilities

As a Teacher and Class Assistant, your duties will include:

Classroom Support: Help the Resource Class Educator with organizing and managing the classroom, especially for learners with barriers to learning.
Learner Supervision: Supervise activities, monitor learner performance, and assist in storytelling, reading, and language development.
Perceptual Skills Development: Support learners in developing fine motor skills through various activities such as puzzles, threading, and posture exercises.
Administrative Support: Assist the Resource Class Educator with administrative tasks, and manage learning and teaching support materials.
Emotional and Physical Support: Provide care and support for learners, especially those with special education needs, including meal preparation and hygiene care.
Excursions and Activities: Accompany learners on school trips and help with their overall safety and engagement in school activities.
Fundraising Efforts: Participate in school fundraising events.
