What’s the Role About?

As a Control Room Operator (also referred to as a Monitoring Centre Associate I), your job is to:

• Respond to alarms and incoming signals
• Communicate with clients and keyholders
• Support on-the-ground response teams
• Ensure administrative accuracy
• Keep client records updated
• Maintain high service levels and performance

You’ll be the first line of contact during any alert, playing a key role in preventing crime and ensuring safety for homes, businesses, and institutions across the country.

Minimum Requirements to Apply

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• Grade C PSIRA Registration (active)
• Must be able to work shifts in a high-pressure environment
• Good telephone manners and fluent communication skills
• Able to work with computer systems
• Be honest, alert, and reliable

Core Responsibilities and Duties

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll be doing day-to-day:

1. Signal Monitoring & Emergency Response

• Monitor all alarm signals (both emergency and non-emergency)
• Quickly phone clients or keyholders when alerts are triggered
• Capture all important information using internal systems
• Escalate incidents to senior staff or response teams

2. Computer and Equipment Handling

• Report any issues with software or equipment immediately
• Follow strict company policies – no misuse of phones or systems
• Ensure safe, ethical, and professional use of all tools

---

3. Clean & Efficient Workstation

• Keep your desk area neat and organized
• Ensure the control room maintains a professional look

---

4. Client Interaction

• Assist clients with queries or complaints over the phone
• Update client details like holiday instructions or alarm settings
• Report any faulty systems or leads to the relevant department

5. General Admin & Operations

• Keep timesheets and vehicle violation logs updated
• Attend team meetings and required training sessions
• Know the company’s procedures and follow them without fail

6. Maintain SOPs & Performance Standards

• Stick to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Deliver services that meet high quality and safety standards
• Always work to meet the agreed service and performance targets

7. Extra Support

• From time to time, you may assist with special projects or additional tasks
