As a Sewer Pump Station General Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the sewer pump stations and wastewater treatment facilities. The duties include cleaning, basic maintenance, yard work, and regular inspections. Your contribution will directly impact the efficiency and safety of the water infrastructure in the region.

Minimum Requirements:

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 or Equivalent Qualification
• Previous experience in working with Sewer Pump Stations
• Physically and medically fit to perform demanding tasks

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The role involves hands-on operational tasks to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the pump stations:

Register Management:

Signing the Pump Station Register upon visits.

Pump Station Inspections:

Conducting weekly inspections to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Cleaning Duties:

Sweeping floors, if needed, during each visit.

Washing floors and walls weekly.

Dusting electrical panels every week.

Cleaning handrails weekly to maintain hygiene.

Litter Removal:

Collecting and disposing of litter in demarcated bins.

Yard Maintenance:

Performing gardening tasks, such as cutting grass, as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Knowledge:

• Basic understanding of how Sewer Pump Stations operate
• Awareness of basic hygiene standards
• Knowledge of safety procedures while working on-site

Skills:

• Good communication skills – both verbal and listening
• Proficient in housekeeping skills to maintain cleanliness
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
